Data controller and policy scope
This is the official privacy policy for ToneSlice: MP3 Cutter (com.blacksunset.toneslice). The app publisher and controller for Blacksunset-managed processing described here is Blacksunset OÜ (Estonian registry code 16513658), trading as Blacksunset Studio.
Address: Hariduse põik 1, Kõrveküla alevik, Tartu vald, Tartu maakond, 60512, Estonia. Privacy contact: info@blacksunset.ee. App support: support@blacksunset.ee.
The app-specific sections below explain the device data and features the app accesses, the purposes of processing, external service providers, and retention and deletion practices.
When the app connects to external services named below, data is protected in transit with HTTPS or TLS. Data stored on the device can be managed and deleted using the options described below.
The app does not offer account creation, so an account-deletion request flow does not apply.
If you email support, Blacksunset OÜ processes your email address and message content to answer the request and resolve the issue. Support correspondence is kept only as long as necessary for support and applicable legal obligations.
Purpose of the app
ToneSlice: MP3 Cutter is an Android app for trimming local MP3 files into ringtone, notification, alarm, or music clips.
Audio processing
Selected MP3 files are processed locally on your Android device. ToneSlice does not upload audio files to Blacksunset Studio servers.
Trimmed clips are saved locally through Android MediaStore. Saved clips remain on your device until you delete them.
Permissions
- File access: ToneSlice uses Android's system file picker and receives access only to the file you choose.
- android.permission.WRITE_SETTINGS (modify system settings): used only when you explicitly choose to set a saved clip as the default ringtone, notification, or alarm sound.
- android.permission.INTERNET and android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: used by Google AdMob and Google UMP for ads, consent, fraud prevention, security, and compliance.
ToneSlice does not request broad storage, microphone, contacts, or precise location permissions.
Advertising and consent
ToneSlice uses Google AdMob to show one small banner ad in a passive top area below the import/hero section. Ads are kept separate from the editor, playback, export, sharing, set-default, and permission flows.
Where required, ToneSlice uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request advertising consent and to provide privacy choices.
Data processed by advertising SDKs
Google Mobile Ads SDK 25.4.0 automatically collects and shares the device's IP address, app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers for advertising, analytics, and fraud-prevention purposes. The IP address can be used to estimate approximate location.
Google states that data collected by the SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS. Advertising-ID availability and ad personalization depend on Android settings, consent, region, and Google's configuration.
Data sharing
ToneSlice does not share audio files with Blacksunset Studio and does not upload them to a server.
Advertising-related technical data is shared with Google through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Google's subsequent processing and advertising-partner involvement depend on consent, region, Android settings, and Google's configuration.
Children
ToneSlice is not designed for children under 13 and should not be used as a child-directed app.
Retention and deletion
Temporary working files are stored in the app cache and may be removed during normal app use or by Android. You can delete saved clips with your device's file manager, ringtone settings, or media apps.
Android backup rules exclude ToneSlice's recent-export history from automatic cloud backup. Exported audio remains in Android MediaStore and is managed by you and the device's media or backup services.
You can reopen advertising privacy choices from ToneSlice and reset or delete the Android advertising ID in device settings. Clearing ToneSlice data does not delete information already processed by Google; Google's retention and deletion practices are governed by Google's privacy controls and policies.
You can remove app data by clearing ToneSlice data in Android settings or uninstalling the app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page along with the update date.
Your rights
Where data-protection law applies, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive personal data controlled by Blacksunset OÜ, and you may object to processing. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Most app data stays only on your device and can be managed through the app or Android settings.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate.
